UCA Student Chaplaincy

On 31st March and 17th February respectively, Sue Laidlay and Janet Sturge will be representing you at the University of the Creative Arts, Oakwood campus, for an hour or so at lunchtime. We will be in the sitting area on the way into the refectory and near the Student Union office, with some sort of identification to say that we are volunteer chaplains for Quakers, but available to all. We have the green leaflets specially designed for this purpose and other Quaker literature, and if possible maps or at least a list to hand out with information about all the local churches. A private room will be available if needed.

This could lead to a regular ‘Quiet Time’, if a demand shows itself and if a few more churches can be persuaded to take a turn. Only two other churches had responded to the head of Student Services, Caroline Bozier, when she last contacted me. She hopes to have different churches represented, on alternate Tuesdays and Thursdays. If you know of other church leaders and could interest them, please do spread the word.

There has been no paid chaplain since July 2009, though the college has a good range of other services – a great deal better than when I was a student there in 1991-2!
